Job Description

M.J. Bale is seeking an experienced and performance-focused Store Business Manager to lead our Collins Place store. This is an opportunity for a strong people leader who thrives on driving results, building high-performing teams and delivering an exceptional premium customer experience.

Collins Place is a key CBD location, and we are looking for someone who can lead from the front, grow the client base, and elevate both commercial performance and team capability.


The Opportunity

As Store Business Manager, you will take full ownership of store performance, people leadership and operational excellence.

Commercial Leadership

  • Drive store sales targets, KPIs and profitability

  • Analyse sales data to identify growth opportunities and performance trends

  • Manage wage budgets and roster efficiency

  • Drive average transaction value (ATV), units per transaction (UPT) and database growth

  • Identify and execute local business development and clienteling strategies

Team Leadership & Development

  • Recruit, train and develop a high-performing retail team

  • Lead by example on the shop floor, demonstrating premium selling techniques

  • Coach team members to exceed individual and store targets

  • Foster a culture of accountability, energy and continuous improvement

  • Conduct performance reviews and ongoing development conversations

Customer Experience Excellence

  • Deliver a world-class, tailored customer experience

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with VIP and repeat clients

  • Drive appointment-based styling and custom opportunities

  • Ensure service standards consistently reflect the M.J. Bale brand

Operational & Visual Standards

  • Maintain exceptional store presentation in line with visual merchandising guidelines

  • Oversee stock management and inventory control

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures

  • Drive operational efficiency and process improvement

Desired Skills and Experience

About You

  • Proven experience as a Store Manager or senior retail leader in a premium or high-performing environment

  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to manage P&L performance

  • Demonstrated success in driving sales growth and achieving KPIs

  • Exceptional leadership, coaching and team development skills

  • Strong clienteling and relationship-building capability

  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail

  • Passionate about menswear, tailoring and delivering premium service
