We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Store Business Manager to lead our DFO South Wharf store — one of our high-volume locations. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who thrives in fast-paced retail, loves developing people, and knows how to run a store like their own business.
About the role
As Store Business Manager, you are accountable for the end-to-end performance of the store. You will lead, coach, and inspire your team to deliver exceptional customer experiences while driving sales, productivity, and profitability.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading and developing a high-performing team through coaching, feedback, and training
Driving strong commercial outcomes across sales, KPIs, and wage management
Delivering a consistently elevated customer experience aligned to the M.J. Bale brand
Managing rosters, recruitment, onboarding, and performance management
Ensuring visual merchandising, stock levels, and store presentation meet brand standards
Analysing sales data and implementing strategies to improve performance
Creating a positive, inclusive, and accountable store culture
Acting as a brand ambassador both in-store and within the wider retail network

About you
You are a confident retail leader who understands both people leadership and commercial performance.
We’re looking for someone who:
Has proven experience as a Store Manager or Business Manager in a fast-paced retail environment (DFO experience highly regarded)
Is sales-driven with strong commercial and operational acumen
Leads with confidence, empathy, and accountability
Excels at coaching teams to achieve results and progress in their careers
Is highly organised and comfortable managing competing priorities
Has strong communication skills and a solutions-focused mindset
Is flexible to work weekends, late nights, and peak trade periods
Experience in premium or fashion retail is advantageous but not essential — leadership capability is key.
